Carmen awarded the Extraordinary Prize for Compulsory Secondary Education in Andalusia, academic year 2022/2023

How do you feel about being awarded this extraordinary award in Compulsory Secondary Education?

I feel very proud of myself and now I feel much more motivated to continue on this path and try to do my best in my studies.

Tell us a little about yourself and your experience at the school so far, how do you think El Altillo has helped you to get the award?

I joined El Altillo International School in Infants, and my experience at the school has been very good, it has given me many opportunities and I think this has been essential as I have participated in many activities that have helped me to develop as a person and to get to know my likes and my strengths.

What do you think have been the key factors for your academic success?

Knowing how to organise my time well and paying as much attention as possible to my classes, as well as knowing when to stop studying and take a break to make it more bearable.

How do you handle pressure and stress during the exam period?

I don’t stress a lot, I try as hard as I can to get a good grade but beyond that it’s out of my hands. During exam weeks I try to organise my time well so that I can also enjoy my free time.

Do you have any study habits that you consider essential for your performance?

I think the most important thing for me is to pay attention in class and try not to go home with doubts, so I make much better use of my study time at home. Another very important factor for me is definitely the balance between study and rest time.

Is there anyone in particular who has inspired you in your academic career?

No one in particular, but my family and especially my parents have always supported and trusted me and they are the ones who motivate me to do my best.

Do you have any long-term academic goals?

I hope to be able to follow the same path throughout high school and I would also like to be able to get a scholarship to study at university in another country.

Have you been involved in extracurricular activities or student life at the school?

Throughout my years at this school I have taken part in as many activities as I can, from dance to the debating club to drama, I try to participate in as many as I can as not everyone has the same opportunities available to them and I like to take advantage of the opportunities that the school gives me.

How has the support of your teachers and classmates contributed to your performance?

I am lucky to have teachers who care about their students and are always available for any questions or problems. As for my classmates, I feel very comfortable during lessons and I have a good relationship with everyone in my class. I think that all of this, the extraordinary atmosphere, has a great influence on my performance because I feel at ease in the school and this makes the classes more bearable and productive.
